Xilinx And Nallatech Ship XtremeDSP Development Kit For Industry's Most Advanced FPGAs
Xilinx Expands XtremeDSP Initiative With Virtex-II Development Platform Program
SAN JOSE, CA--(INTERNET WIRE)--May 14, 2002 -- Xilinx, Inc., (NASDAQ:XLNX) and Nallatech today announced
the availability of a new Xilinx(R) XtremeDSP(TM) Development
Kit for high-performance DSP system development. The kit
serves as an ideal development platform featuring Xilinx
2V2000 Virtex-II(TM) FPGAs, allowing designers to rapidly
develop high bandwidth applications such as 3G wireless
infrastructure, software defined radio (SDR) systems, and
smart antennas. The kit contains a hardware development
platform, Nallatech's FUSE (Field Upgradeable Systems Environment)
software, power supplies and cables. The kit also includes
the Xilinx XtremeDSP software evaluation kit, which includes
tools such as MATLAB(TM)/Simulink(TM) from The MathWorks,
System Generator(TM) for DSP and ISE(TM) software from Xilinx,
Synplify Pro(TM) from Synplicity, and FPGA Advantage(TM)
from Mentor Graphics. For more information on Xilinx DSP
solutions, visit www.xilinx.com/dsp.
"The XtremeDSP Development Kit with its pre-engineered hardware
enables DSP designers to focus their efforts on sophisticated
algorithm development. By collaborating with a proven DSP
system specialist like Nallatech, we are able to deliver
this DSP solution to our customers more quickly thereby
accelerating DSP solutions to market," said David Squires,
director of the Xilinx DSP Center of Excellence. "With the
addition of this new development kit, customers can now
choose from over 30 DSP boards using Xilinx FPGAs."
About the DSP Development Kit
The hardware development platform includes dual 14-bit Digital
to Analog Converters (DACs) operating at up to 160 Mega-samples/sec
(MSPS) combined with dual 14-bit Analog to Digital Converters
(ADCs) operating at 65MSPS, demonstrating the high performance
capability of Xilinx FPGA DSP solutions. The interface to
the hardware platform is provided through either a PCI or
USB connection, providing engineers with flexibility in
choosing interfaces. With the purchase of the XtremeDSP
Development Kit, customers are also provided with a single
device edition of Nallatech's FUSE software.
"This plug' n' play FUSE software allows for flexible and
scaleable control and configuration of programmable systems,
allowing rapid development of software applications for
FPGA-based systems," said Dr. Malachy Devlin, senior vice
president and CTO at Nallatech.
License Price and Availability
The XtremeDSP Development Kit is available now for $1995
and can be purchased at www.xilinx.com/dsp.
